10 Tips for a Successful Snapshot Day

  1. Plan special events for the day (such as seed planting for kids – we can help set you up). Story time, face-painting, food sampling, pie baking contest. Ask market members or volunteers what they are willing to pitch in to make it a fun time.
  2. Promote, promote, promote! Use as many methods as possible: Facebook, Instagram, Town Office (or other local partner), market info booth, market newsletter, vendor word of mouth.
  3. Share our ready-made social media graphics, or make your own. Ask market members to share as well.
  4. Ask market members to share social media posts about the upcoming event. This can have a huge impact on your social media reach.
  5. Put up posters in advance (we’ll be sending some). Again, vendors should be able to help here.
  6. Encourage market members to start using related hashtags when posting pictures.
  7. Make sure whoever is distributing the temporary tattoos on Snapshot Day has a pretty good idea how to apply them – people will ask! (A spray bottle of water helps.)
  8. Line up volunteers to collect shopper surveys and to take photos. (Now is the time to think about volunteer placement for Snapshot Day. You probably already know how traffic flows at your market. Place your volunteers strategically for maximum engagement.)
  9. To print photos of your market in the annual report, we’ll need signed permission forms from everyone in the picture. (We are including a reusable laminated poster-sized media release form in your toolkit) Get at least 5 photos with signed permissions to represent your market.
  10. Encourage volunteers to engage with absolutely everyone in order to get a thorough representation of your market’s customer base.
