MFFM Press Conference to speak up for SNAP

On Saturday, April 5, we held a press conference at the Bridgton Farmers’ Market in support of SNAP funding and to call on Maine’s Congressional delegation to protect SNAP from any cuts. Our Director, Jimmy DeBiasi, BrennaMae Thomas-Googins of Patch Farm, Sandy Swett of Harrison Food Bank, and Senator Rick Bennett spoke to the importance of SNAP for Maine farmers and small businesses, as well as the 170,000+ Mainers who rely on it to have enough food to stay healthy. When reached for comment this weekend, all four of Maine’s Congressional representatives have voiced support for federal SNAP funding and expressed intent to defend it against cuts. If you’re in touch with Senator King, Senator Collins, Congresswoman Pingree, or Congressman Golden this week, please be sure to explicitly thank them for defending SNAP. We are SO GRATEFUL for the instrumental behind-the-scenes support for this conference from our partners Full Plates Full Potential, and to the Bridgton Farmers’ Market for hosting us.
