This year, some farmers’ markets across the state are offering a new form of Senior FarmShare, allowing participating older adults to redeem their share at a farmers’ market rather than a single farm. Joining a market’s Senior FarmShare program enables participants to choose from a wider selection of fresh fruits, vegetables, and honey from farmers at their market of choice.
After enrollment, participants will receive $50 worth in vouchers from their farmers’ market, in $5 and $1 denominations. Each voucher can be spent directly on fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, or honey with a vendor at the market.

Eligibility
To take part in MSFP, you must:
- Be a Maine resident
- Be 60 years old or older (55 years old or older for Native Americans)
- Meet the 2023 Income Guidelines, with a gross income at or below:
- $26,973/per year for a one-person household; or
- $36,482/per year for a two-person household
You may only sign up once per season. If you are already signed up for Senior FarmShare with a farm for 2024, you cannot enroll with a farmers’ market this year.
How do I sign up?
Enrollment for market-wide Senior FarmShare will begin on June 1st. If you would like to put on a list to make sure you get a share at your market, you can email [email protected] or call/text (207) 370-0241 and leave a message. Each market will have a high number of shares available, so the likelihood of a market not having enough shares is extremely low.
