Logan Higger

Logan is the owner-operator, farmer and butcher of Sowbelly Butchery in Jefferson, ME.  After seeking better options to responsibly consume meat, he intentionally built a farmers’ market focused business revolving around whole animal butchery of Maine-raised, organic and grass fed livestock. Sowbelly found its home at Brunswick and Rockland farmers’ markets, for the sale of seasonal sausages and other meat treats. It provides transparency of practice, connection among farmers, processors and consumers and robust customer choice, otherwise lacking in the meat industry. Logan enjoys noodling in the nuance of coalition building and self-governance, is committed to increasing access to local foods, and expanding the footprint of Maine farmers’ markets collectively.
